1796-1875 Corot Locations French painter, draughtsman and printmaker. After a classical education at the College de Rouen, where he did not distinguish himself, and an unsuccessful apprenticeship with two drapers, Corot was allowed to devote himself to painting at the age of 26. He was given some money that had been intended for his sister, who had died in 1821, and this, together with what we must assume was his family continued generosity, freed him from financial worries and from having to sell his paintings to earn a living. Corot chose to follow a modified academic course of training. He did not enrol in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts but studied instead with Achille Etna Michallon and, after Michallon death in 1822, with Jean-Victor Bertin. Dutch painter (b. 1577, Antwerpen, d. 1664, Utrecht) During his early years in Antwerp he was impressed with the colourful paintings of the Fleming Jan Breughel the elder, but the subject and style of his earliest known picture, Dutch East Indiamen off the West African Coast (1608; Amsterdam, Hist. Mus.), presumably painted after the artist's arrival in Holland, shows the influence of the Dutch marine painter Hendrick Cornelisz. Vroom. Nikolay Nikanorovich Dubovskoy
Russian, December 17, 1859 - February 28, 1918) was a Russian landscape painter. He studied from 1877 to 1881 at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg under Mikhail Konstantinovich Klodt. In 1886, he became a member of the Peredvizhniki (the Wanderers), a group of Russian painters. In 1900, he became a member of the Academy of Arts.
Antoine Sallaert
(1585-1650) was a Flemish Baroque painter. According to Houbraken his work survived in Brussels, where he lived and died. He was sorry he could not find more data on this artist. According to the RKD he was registered in the Brussels Guild of Saint Luke as a master in 1613 and used the monograms ASall f and AS entwined.
